The figures or numbers that one sees beside the name of a soccer team are actually odds. In order for one to succeed at sports betting, he needs to be able to comprehend soccer betting odds and recognize how to utilize them to his best advantage. If one fails to understand odds or probabilities then he is literally simply throwing away his money. One might win some bets here & there but he is bound to lose a great deal of his bets if he does not understand odds. So, here are a few football betting tips on how to understand soccer betting odds.

To have a better comprehension of odds, one needs to know its different kinds. There are 3 kinds of football odds & the first one is called fractional odds. Soccer probabilities in fractional format are odds utilized by majority of bookmakers or 'bookies' in the country. Fractional odds are established on one unit of stake. When one is making his bet and then looks at the fractional kind of soccer odds, he would be able to identify the amount of money that he would earn by making one unit of stake. A fractional format doesn't state the full amount of winnings for every unit of stake but simply one's profit from his bet.

The next kind of football odds is called decimal odds. The decimal format odds are mostly utilized by bookies all over the globe. This kind of betting odds is easy and simple to be familiar with. By reading decimal soccer odds, one would be able to identify the total winnings that one would gain from putting up a one unit bet. A unit of stake might differ and could signify either, 10 or 100. To be certain about one's unit of stake, it's ideal to ask the bookie first prior to making one's football bet. Usually, decimal soccer odds are adjusted to 2 decimal places to have it more accurate.

The last kind of soccer betting odds that one might come across is the American odds. This kind of soccer betting odds is also known as money lines. Such kind has a basis of a hundred stake. By interpreting the American odds for one's football betting, he would be able to identify a positive or a negative outcome. If one's American odds show a positive result, the he could determine the profit amount he would earn on his 100 stake. If the soccer betting odds result to a negative, then one could determine the stake amount that he needs to be able to produce 100 on his bet.

Floyd Mayweather made it 49 straight wins with a wide points victory over Andre Berto in Las Vegas.
The challenger was game but his fellow American, defending his WBC and WBA welterweight titles, was simply too difficult to hit at the MGM Grand.
Mayweather, 38, was awarded the verdict 120-108, 118-110 and 117-111.
Mayweather was adamant it was his last fight, but having equalled Rocky Marciano's career record of 49-0,  he might decide to have one more.
"My career is over, that's official," said five-weight world champion Mayweather, widely regarded as the greatest fighter of his generation.
"You've got to know when to hang them up. I'm close to 40 now. There's nothing left to prove in the sport of boxing. Now I just want to spend time with my family.
"I am leaving the sport with all my faculties, I'm still sharp and smart. I've accomplished everything in this sport, there's nothing else to accomplish."
The 32-year-old Berto is a two-time welterweight world champion and came into the fight having lost only three of his 33 professional bouts.
But those three defeats came in his previous six contests and pretty much nobody gave him a chance against Mayweather, who was engaging in his 26th world title fight and whose unbeaten streak goes back to 1996.
The pattern for the fight, as with so many of Mayweather's previous fights, was set in the opening round, the champion establishing his lightning jab and repeatedly making Berto miss.

Mayweather went on the back foot in the second but Berto was chasing shadows, before the champion came out punching in the third, catching his rival cold with a snapping left hook.
After the first nine minutes of action Berto had barely laid a glove on Mayweather, and Mayweather made the challenger's knees sag with a flashing overhand right with a minute left in the fourth.
Berto continued to venture forward in the fifth but even when he managed to manoeuvre Mayweather onto the ropes, he was unable to land with any meaningful blows.
Berto might have done enough to win the sixth and certainly won the seventh, during which he landed with a clubbing left hook.
Mayweather was happy to coast through the eighth, winning it on the back foot while drawing boos from the crowd as he mugged on the ropes.
A fight broke out towards the end of the ninth, with both men trading blows on the bell, and the rivals were broken apart and warned for trading words in the 10th.
Mayweather looked like he might open up in the 11th, landing with a cute uppercut, but he was showboating again towards the end of the round.
And the fact there were boos ringing around the arena as the final round was drawing to a close rather summed up Mayweather's career - to many he is a genius, but he leaves many more boxing fans cold.
Mayweather made $34m (£22m) for his latest outing but few expect him to fulfil his promise to retire.
MGM's new arena opens next April and a rematch against Manny Pacquiao, whom Mayweather beat in May in the richest fight in history, or against the winner of Miguel Cotto-Saul Alvarez might prove too tempting to turn down.

'I'm not perfect but I strived to be a perfectionist'

Speaking in a 45-minute post-fight news conference, Mayweather said: "I had a game plan from the very beginning. I always knew what I wanted to do - be outspoken, be one of a kind. To be in the sport for 19 years and to be world champion for 18 years, I've had a remarkable career.
"It's all about that IQ. I'm 10 steps ahead of any fighter, I take whatever is your best attribute and take that away from you, make you do what you don't want to do.
"Every champion - Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Larry Holmes, the list goes on and on - they opened up the doors and paved the way for where I am today and I'm appreciative.
"But now the young fighters say, 'We want to be like Mayweather'. It's not cool to take punishment in the ring. I'm not perfect but I strived to be a perfectionist."
Andy Murray is set to miss this year's World Tour Finals if, as expected, Belgium decide to host the Davis Cup final against Great Britain on clay.
The Flanders Expo Arena in Ghent will stage the tie if the Davis Cup Committee gives its approval on Tuesday.
The Belgian Federation has two weeks to confirm its choice of surface, but has opted for clay in four of its last six home ties and may conclude it is the surface most likely to inconvenience Murray.
The World Tour Finals - on a hard court - finish at London's O2 Arena on Sunday, 22 November, with the Davis Cup final played over three days from the following Friday.
"The O2 would obviously be a question mark for me if we were playing on the clay," Murray told BBC Radio 5 live after sealing Britain's place in the final.
"I would go and train and prepare on the clay to get ready for the final

Andy Murray's ATP Finals results

2014: Round robin
2013: Did not play
2012: Semi-finals
2011: Round robin
2010: Semi-finals
2009: Round robin
"You saw last year with Roger Federer that the matches at the O2 are extremely tough and physically demanding.
"If you reach the final and play on the Sunday you also need to take time off - you can't just play five matches against the best players in the world and then not take any days off."
Federer woke up with a bad back on the morning of last year's final at the O2 and was unable to play Novak Djokovic.
Although Switzerland went on to win the Davis Cup the following week, Federer lost his opening match to France's Gael Monfils in straight sets.
Murray's back surgery in 2013 was successful, but he was managing a problem throughout Britain's semi-final victory over Australia and needs extra time to make the transition to clay.
The Scot, who won three points in the 3-2 win over Australia in Glasgow, explained: "For me to play - if I was to reach the final - five in a row and then take a couple of days off, it would mean only playing for two days on the clay before the Davis Cup final starts and that wouldn't be enough for me.
"I need more time on the clay to let my back get used to it."

Belgium thrashed in sole final

Belgium have only played in the Davis Cup final on one previous occasion - in 1904, when they were beaten 5-0 by Great Britain.
If Murray does not play in the World Tour Finals, he will miss out on prize money ranging from £100,000 to £1.25m, 1,500 ATP ranking points and the chance to win the prestigious season-ending event for the first time.
The Flanders Expo Arena, meanwhile, which in the past has hosted Elton John, Prince and U2, as well as Belgian TV's version of The Voice, will have a capacity of 13,000 fans for the final. Although the arena is vast, the height of the roof limits the size of the stands that can be built.
Tickets are expected to be cheaper than for last year's final which was watched on the opening day in Lille by a world record crowd of more than 27,000 people.
However, it is unlikely there will be more than 1,300 made available to British fans with the Belgian Federation only obliged to distribute 10% to the away team and Belgium appearing in their first Davis Cup final for 111 years.

Murray 'expected to play' in London - ATP

Chris Kermode, executive president of the ATP which governs men's professional tennis, said Murray would be expected to play in London.
"The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals is a mandatory event on the ATP World Tour," he said.
"All players who qualify, unless injured, are required to compete in the event. Andy Murray has had a fantastic season and earned his place among the world's top eight players to compete at the season finale.
"We are aware of the comments made after the Davis Cup tie in Glasgow, however our expectations are that, if fully fit, Andy would compete in this year's tournament. Unless we hear otherwise via an official withdrawal, he is still entered to compete at the O2."

The Football Association has set a dangerous precedent by rescinding the red card given to Arsenal's Gabriel, says Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
Defender Gabriel was sent off for kicking Diego Costa in Chelsea's 2-0 Premier League win on Saturday.
Mourinho said: "Now we know that retaliation is allowed. No problem, you can do it."
Costa was banned for violent conduct for the incident with Laurent Koscielny which led to Gabriel's sending-off.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said the decision to suspend Costa repaired only "5% of the damage" of his side's defeat at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho said he had not spoken about Costa's three-match ban for fear of being suspended.
"If I bring feelings into the discussion a big suspension will be waiting for me and I don't want that," he said.
"The team lost an important player for three matches and I don't think they need to lose their manager.
"It's easier to accept an injury but this kind of situation goes much more deeper in feelings and the team is hurt."
Wenger said of the FA: "It just shows that they decided after the game what should have happened during the game.
"They repair 5% of the damage which has been done to us. Instead of us playing 11 against 10, we played 10 against 11.
"One or two situations in the game are very difficult to understand when you watch it again."
The FA charged Gabriel with improper conduct for failing to leave the pitch immediately after being sent off, and both clubs with failing to control their players.
Gabriel, Arsenal and Chelsea have until 18:00 BST on Thursday to reply to those charges.

The 52-year-old has accused the media of 'finding problems' and told one reporter to 'click Google' when asked about whether he was suffering from third-season syndrome

Jose Mourinho has hit out at questions about the mood in the Chelsea dressing room and insists he has nothing to prove amid his side’s poor run of form.

The Premier League champions have secured just four points from five games this season, while Mourinho has already admitted that he and his players are unhappy with the start they have made.

But when asked about the mood among his players ahead of his side's Champions League group-stage opener against Maccabi Tel Aviv, Mourinho replied: “This is a question you keep asking and you should expect the same answer.

"You can have smiles and jokes, it’s a basic answer. When people are not getting success you work for, and I promise you we work hard, people get frustrated.

“It’s sad that it’s like that. It’s so simple to accept that the results are not good because that’s football and every season you have some seasons where teams don’t start well, have a bad result, and it’s so easy to connect that to bad luck, bad injuries. It’s quite sad that people go in other directions to find problems that don’t exist. That’s your problem.

“The only problem we have it that we don’t have good results. We aren't happy but we know what we are.

“In other clubs, you have to go back two, three, four, five years to remember good results. In our case, you have to go back three months, and three months ago we were the best team in the country, the best manager, best players.

“Can you ask me why some managers can’t be in difficult situations for five, six seven, ten years? I am the current champions of England, why should I be in trouble? I think it’s a good question that you don’t know how to answer.

“I have a squad. I don’t have to play with the same eleven, I can make changes, but I know the consequences of that. If I make a couple of changes in my team, if I take out Azpilicueta, you will say I have a problem with Azpilicueta, if I take out Terry, you will say I have a problem with Terry, if I take out Fabregas, you will say I have a problem with Fabregas.”

Asked if he was the ‘special one’ or ‘happy one’ on Tuesday, Mourinho replied: “Special and happy.”

But the Chelsea manager fired back with a stinging response when questioned on whether he was suffering from a third season complex.

“My third season in Porto, I didn’t have a third season, my third season at Inter, I didn’t have a third season, in my third season at Chelsea I won the FA Cup, League Cup and I reached the Champions League semi-final. Third season at Madrid, I won the Super Cup, and got to the semi-final of the Champions League,” he said.

“Click Google and stop asking stupid questions. I have nothing to show to anyone. Nothing.”

The former Reds midfielder has revealed the forward claimed "he couldn't defend at corner-kicks" during his first training session with the club

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has described AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli as a "spectacular waste of talent".

Balotelli spent the 2014-15 campaighn at Anfield and started only 10 Premier League matches before being shipped back to San Siro on a season-long loan deal.

Gerrard has now revealed in his autobiography, which is being serialised in The Daily Mail, that he had concerns about Balotelli's professionalism from his first training session.

He said: "I had seen a staggering number of new signings walk into the Liverpool training ground.

"I watched every single one of their first training sessions with close attention, wondering whether we'd bought a star or another dud, a king or a prat, a Xabi Alonso or an El Hadji Diouf, a Luis Suarez or a Mario Balotelli.

"In my last season, Brendan Rodgers came to me at Melwood one day in mid-August. We had a chat on the training pitch. He said, 'You know we've missed out on a couple of signings. I'm basically left with no option but to have a bit of a gamble.'

Brendan paused before he spoke again: 'The gamble is Mario Balotelli.' My instant reaction was, 'Uh-oh.'

"I'd never met Balotelli but I'd heard all the stories about the indoor fireworks and Jose Mourinho describing him as an 'unmanageable' player. I could see that, in the right mood, he was a quality footballer but the rest of his career seemed like a spectacular waste of talent. That was my opinion of Balotelli.

"But I also had to admit that, when he played for Italy, he seemed able to switch on his gift like he was snapping on a bright light. Brendan implied that Balotelli didn't have anywhere else to go – and it seemed as if Liverpool would be Balotelli's last chance to shine at a major club. He would be offered a strict contract. Any bad behaviour would be punished.

"I reminded myself that I had always allowed every new player to come into the club with a clean slate. Balotelli's reputation tested that resolve but I tried my best to be open-minded. He made an immediate impression when we were doing work on our defensive set-pieces and Balotelli said to Brendan: 'I don't mark on corners. I can't.'

"I nearly fell into the goalpost. I was thinking, 'What are you? Six foot three, and one of the strongest men I've ever seen on a football pitch? And you can't mark on a corner?'

"Brendan was very firm. He said to Balotelli: 'Well, you can now – and if you can't then you're going to learn.' That was the first conflict between Brendan and Balotelli, on day one, but the manager stood up to Mario really well. From that point, Balotelli started marking on corners.

"I knew that Balotelli would simply not put in the work we needed from a lone striker. Away to Basel in the Champions League, Balotelli started the game and he was hopeless. After his promising debut against Tottenham he had lapsed in training and the subsequent games. His demeanour was very poor. I made up my mind pretty quickly after that about Balotelli.

"There was no friction between us but I could see Mourinho had been right when he said Balotelli is unmanageable.

"He is very talented with the potential to be world-class, but he'll never get there because of his mentality and the people around him. Balotelli's always late, he always wants attention, he says the wrong things on social media.

"For me, he doesn't work hard enough on a daily basis. You're always fighting a losing battle with Balotelli. He does too many things wrong."
